Toddler Pixie Hat

The combination of a list of WIPs, all requiring some element of moderation of various degrees, and late nights naturally made me look for a procrastination project that I could churn out without much effort. Stella Pixie Hat is a 1944 vintage pattern that is generously offered free of charge on ravelry by Kristen Rengren. The pattern is available in sizes 3-12 and 12-24 months and originally knitted in fingering weight yarn. To get the hat to fit a Toddler (aged 2 years plus), I used Worsted weight yarn and cast on 86 stitches on 4mm needles.

The hat is knitted in Fyberspates Scrumptious Solid DK (55% Merino, 45% Silk). Although marked as DK it is really a worsted weight yarn and as with most Fyberspates Scrumptious yarns the colour is wonderfully saturated and oh so soft.

I enjoyed this project. The yarn is a delight to work with and it was such a quick and cute knit. Proof of the pudding – the hat is allowed to remain on the head of the young bearer. An overall success!
